Nets for Life Inspiration Fund

During Special Meeting, Holy Communion's Cheney Hall was completely bordered with butcher paper bedecked with handprints. Each handprint represented a child that would die that day from malaria. It was resolved that the Diocese of West Tennessee would support Nets for Life Inspiration Fund, a grassroots effort to educate, engage, and unite Episcopalians to support the Millenium Development Goals through the fight against malaria. Each $12 gift to Nets for Life will purchase one net large enough to save three lives for up to five years. The Diocese encourages each parish to set their own goals toward purchasing lifesaving nets for communities in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Please visit the official Inspiration Fund website for information on the program. For additional information, contact Betty Johnson, Diocesan Coordinator for Episcopal Relief and Development, at bettyjohnsonbbj@aol.com.

About the Diocesan Convention

The Convention is the legislative body of the Diocese and shall exercise all powers not reserved to the Bishop by the Canons or tradition, or reserved to any other entity of the Diocese. Elected lay representatives and canonically resident clergy from each parish and mission in the Diocese attend as delegates to the Convention. During the Convention, various diocesan officers are elected, and other key diocesanleadership positions are either elected or appointed as provided for by Canons. The Convention adopts the annual budget for the Diocese and considers as a body other matters germane to the mission and operation of the Diocese.
