Strategic Vision

Know and proclaim our identity as Christians, building on common foundations that shape us as Episcopalians.

This priority is key to how we live and move and have our being as a Diocese. In knowing and proclaiming our identity as Christians, we must strive to assure that we all know the Christian narrative, our place in it and how to share it with others via word and deed.  We must be everyday Catechists as we continue to grow in the faith, living, working and worshiping as Episcopalians.

Potential effects upon existing diocesan structures and current organizations:

  • Parishes and Missions – in setting an example in all areas of ministry; in preaching and teaching and in identifying persons with leadership gifts for ministry
  • Diocesan Convention – in setting benchmarks for the Diocese
  • Bishop and Council – in development of policy and program
  • Commission on Ministry – in setting expectations for its work of discernment and for those invited into the discernment process
  • Diocesan Communications – internal (knowing) and external (proclaiming); may have budgetary impact for advertising, technology, etc.
  • Diocesan Youth Council, ECW, DOK, other diocese-wide groups – in development of program
Church Home Board – in determining priorities for recipients of Church Home grants
  • Emmanuel Episcopal Center – in program development for a changing community
  • St. Columba Conference Center – in hosting/development of conferences, camps and retreats
  • Task Force on Ministry with the LGBT Community – in development of resources to assist congregations and clergy
